Best Day Trip From LA Poppy Fields
You can take plenty of day trips from LA, and this one is definitely one of the best within a reasonable driving distance (about 1.5 hours). Whether you’re looking for a spot to snap some stunning photos for a special occasion or simply want to unwind and soak in the beauty of nature, it’s the perfect getaway. The Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve offers the best of both worlds—beautiful scenery and a peaceful escape from the city hustle.
Ah, spring! The season of vibrant colors, fresh air, and the perfect excuse to spend more time outdoors. If you’re in the LA area, that also means it’s time to visit the Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve, where fields of poppies and wildflowers take over the rolling hills. Trust me, it’s totally worth the two-hour drive. But before you head out, here’s what you should know.
The poppies usually start blooming in early April, but the exact timing depends on the weather—sun, rain, heat, and even wind can all affect when they peak. It could be anywhere between mid-March and early May. To stay updated, check out the reserve’s Facebook page or give the Poppy Reserve Wildflower Hotline a call at 661-724-1180.
