DALAWELLA BEACH
Dalawella Beach isn’t just your average sandy stretch—it’s the ultimate A-lister of Sri Lankan shores. Turtles, skinny palm trees and that infamous swing that’s practically breaking the internet! So, if you’re making a Sri Lanka bucket list, this beach better be at the tippy-top!
Shallow waters, a natural reef barrier, and waves as clear as your conscience – Dalawella Beach is basically the kiddo paradise. And get this, your mini-me might just strike up a friendship with some flippy locals – yep, turtles included! Pro-tip: Hit the beach early when it’s low tide, and you can even hand-feed them some seaweed snacks that are being handed out by local safeguards. But remember, I’ve seen some tourists not respecting the rules, touching turtles; one even tried to hold one. Please don’t. Let’s keep these gentle creatures safe and happy in their natural habitat. 🐢.
Whether you’re into taking epic photos on the swing or just chilling with the turtles, Dalawella Beach has something for everyone. Plus, the sunsets here are incredible! So, grab your sunscreen and camera, because you’re in for a beach day you’ll never forget.

Our stay at Dream Cabana Hotel was nothing short of amazing. We spent two nights in the room with a spacious outdoor patio (which we really loved), all at the affordable rate of $35 per night. The rooms are VERY simple but clean, and the entire place is run by a lovely family of former diving instructors and surf pros. Our son Jayden felt right at home, joining in with sweet treats and lending a hand with porch cleaning. It truly was the highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka.
Whether you’re booking a night or just stopping by for lunch, make sure to take a swing under that palm tree—literally. Trust me, you won’t want to miss out on this slice of paradise!
